Abstractions And Control Of Swarming Bacteria With Applications To Manipulation

Abstract:

In this talk we discuss several issues related to the idea of using bacteria for manipulating microscale structures. We focus mainly on building a phenomenologically based mathematical model of the dynamic behavior of the individual flagellated bacteria, as well as the microstructures (microbarges) that are powered by the bacteria. We also present several control modalities that can be used to control/influence the behavior of the bacteria.
